Las abejas sin aguij\u00f3n (Apidae: Meliponini) desempe\u00f1an un papel fundamental en la ecolog\u00eda, la econom\u00eda y la cultura de muchas comunidades, especialmente en Am\u00e9rica del Sur. Son los principales polinizadores de numerosas especies de flora nativa y de plantas tropicales cultivadas. Adem\u00e1s, sus productos \u2014como la miel, el polen, los prop\u00f3leos y el cerumen\u2014 han sido utilizados durante generaciones como fuente de ingresos, dejando tambi\u00e9n una huella significativa en la cultura de los pueblos originarios. <\/span><\/span>
En Bolivia, la meliponicultura sigue siendo una actividad incipiente, aunque muchas comunidades ind\u00edgenas mantienen una relaci\u00f3n ancestral con las abejas sin aguij\u00f3n. En Guatemala, el pueblo maya tambi\u00e9n ha practicado la meliponicultura durante muchos a\u00f1os. Sin embargo, este conocimiento tradicional se est\u00e1 perdiendo con el tiempo, por lo que es necesario recuperarlo y fortalecerlo mediante nuevas t\u00e9cnicas que permitan establecer una pr\u00e1ctica ap\u00edcola exitosa.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Objetivo:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>

\u00a0En este sentido, el proyecto tuvo como objetivo optimizar el desarrollo sostenible de la meliponicultura. Para lograrlo, se propuso documentar su uso tradicional en la salud, promover buenas pr\u00e1cticas y fomentar la comercializaci\u00f3n, con el fin de generar un impacto positivo y directo en los ecosistemas y en la salud humana dentro de paisajes culturales de comunidades ind\u00edgenas en Bolivia y Guatemala.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>

Para ello, se dise\u00f1\u00f3 una metodolog\u00eda interdisciplinaria que incluy\u00f3 un componente de investigaci\u00f3n y la realizaci\u00f3n de intervenciones educativas en los distintos procesos de la cadena productiva de la meliponicultura: desde los productores hasta los consumidores. En definitiva, el proyecto SBEES result\u00f3 relevante bajo la visi\u00f3n de One Health, ya que busc\u00f3 promover una interacci\u00f3n sostenible entre las abejas sin aguij\u00f3n, los seres humanos y el medio ambiente.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>
